(Alfred:) Ok, this is not really a workshop, it´s more like a meeting. Mainly, because most of the artists are musicians. But anyway, we present our (mainly visual) stuff from Berlin and Papua New Guinea, and the estimate 10 visitors seems to be interested. As part of the common history between Germany and Papua New Guinea, we  talk about the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. Yes, this is a real issue here, these artists listen… A group of Reggae musicans present their Papua Reggae Festival to us. That is a big thing, wow, 20 different bands played on the last one in october 2014. www.facebook.com/groups/korkpapua We talk about strategies of survival as independent artists organisation. Talking here about Berlin project rooms feels strange first, but then it´s nice. We confirm another meeting on sunday for some sound recordings etc. And another plan: Doing a Papua Reggae Disco event at ZK/U in Berlin next year.

(Alfred:) Crossing the border takes some time, but it´s very easy at the end. Some stamps, that´s it.We have the right passport I guess. Ferry, a great musician, working for an NGO in Jayapura picks us up. The streets get wider, waste, noise and traffic rises, we arrive the town. Welcome Indonesia, Jayapura looks like any town in Java, exept it lays in a incredible beautiful bay of the pacific ocean. We make plan for a project meeting on Thursday afternoon.

(Alfred:) We are leaving the town in the morning. Port Moresby bye bye with a nice traffic jam.

(Alfred:) Short stops in Madang and Wewak, arriving in Vanimo near the border to West Papua in the early afternoon. Another christian guesthouse, another dormitory. Estimate 35 € each person, no breakfast. We have a beer at sunset,  4 €. Better leaving this place. But it is beautiful, south pacific vegetation, and a nice wind from the sea.

(Marion): Vanimo is a beautiful town located at the Isthmus of a hilly peninsula with a beach on either side. The town moves up the hill with small „pacific style houses“ and could be a lovely place if it not has been so dirty. Especially the harbor side was disgusting. There seems to be no public rubbish collection.  Despite this the place is easy to walk around and people are very friendly. I enjoyed a stroll along the beach which took as bit too long to get our shopping for dinner done in time. The shops and stores close already at 5 p. Luckily at the market we could find a few bananas and donughts for our dinner.
